Biennial 9 3

The Northwestern Pennsylvania Artists Association Exhibition - An Art Review

Curious to see what local artists are producing?

Then visit “Biennial 9,” at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, featuring works from the Northwestern Pennsylvania Artists Association.

Containing over 40 creations, the show offers visitors a wide variety of media – from fabric to ceramics to painting to sculpture – that many attendees can appreciate.

From Ron Bayuzick’s “Princess”  (see above), a sculpture of found metal, rusted and tossed by its original owners, now finding new, “regal” life in an art exhibit, to Brian Pardini’s “The Wise One,” a thin, wooden amalgamation that looks like part bird, part man, yet full of secret knowledge.

Dan Austin’s “Larry’s Central Market,” is a watercolor creation showing the storefront of an Erie grocery store. For a more quiet, contemplative painting, Luke Gehring’s “Presque Isle Intermezzo,” provides an image of a sunrise/sunset with various hues of orange for the sky, and in the foreground, a tree’s leaves with a rainbow of colors created by an unseen sun.

Tom Hubert’s “Red, White and Blue Bowl,” is a large ceramic artwork that features various swishes of red, white and blue colors near its top and an intricate diamond web design near its base. “Mother Vine,” by Carol Comstock, is a mixed-media creation with a webwork of colorful strings, yarn and twine that bob and weave together producing an entrancing design.
